I have worked and part owned a family-run IT business since 1994. During this time I have worked mainly with Microsoft Technologies and attained the MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional), MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) and prestigious MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) qualifications for NT4 and Windows Server 2003. I am currently in the process of upgrading my qualification for Windows Server 2008.
Part of my work has included Software Development and it is something I really love doing. It has primarily been in Microsoft Visual Foxpro but also a fair amount of Microsoft Access along with a dabble in C/C++ and VB6. I have recently been taking more interest in .Net programming languages (C# and VB.Net), PHP, Java, Python and even Assembly. At the moment I’m working my way through Jack Crenshaw’s excellent Let’s Build a Compiler tutorials and converting the Pascal code to Visual Foxpro as a learning exercise.
Part of my original MCSE training included the Microsoft SQL Server 7 Administration elective and since then I have been very interested in both the administration and development for SQL based products including MSSQL and MySQL.
